Last night I discovered the WP Daily Post “Weekly Photographic Challenge“.
This afternoon, whilst we were out shopping for some dinner to cook for the kids, I noticed a very obvious ‘Grid’ for this weeks challenge. These are photos of Fife House in Glenrothes, the main offices for the Fife Council. Hopefully next time I’ll manage to think a wee bit more laterally 🙂
I would love to know whether you prefer the colour, or black & white version of the last photo?
Ah Glenrothes! My home town. It is quite a marvel that you managed to make those horrible municipal buildings look interesting. I did not think Glenrothes would ever feature in your blog. As to your question, I think the strongest images are the first one with the different shades of blue reflected in the windows and the grid of the reflected windows adding to the theme and visual interest, and then the fourth one because the sky is so strong.

Thanks Laura 🙂 And I hadn’t realised you are from Glenrothes, it’s a small world. And until today, I’d never ever considered photographing the council buildings, even though I pass them every day when I drop the kids off to school.

It’s something I try to keep quiet. 😜

I like the color photo of the last two you posted. The reason is I like seeing the clouds in the reflections in the buildings. The blue of the sky and the white clouds show up quite amazing. Great pictures for this challenge.

An excellent entry for ‘grid’. On the whole I prefer colour photography, but in the case of the last one I think you may have won me over with the black and white. Like Jo and Laura, my favourite picture in this post is the first one. I particularly like the warm textured reflections towards the bottom of the photo.

Thanks Lorna, I’m happy you like the photos. I must confess, I was quite pleased with the first one too. It’s amazing what you can see from Lidl’s car park, when you truly open your eyes 🙂 Mind you, whilst I’m out shopping, I generally switch off completely, being a typical male! Lol!

Andy, ordinarily I prefer colour but I do love how your last photo look like in black & white 😊

Thanks Sonia 🙂 I’m still torn between the two, but think I’m slightly edging towards the black and white version.

Great pictures, I tend to be a sucker for black and white pictures and love all of them, however that first picture and the colour version of the last one have such incredible reflections of the sky, I think they are my favourites!!

Thank you Joy 🙂 I’m tending to agree with you and everyone else about the very first photo being the best of the six. I’m so grateful that someone in the council was feeling hot, and decided to open a window 🙂

Love the angles you chose for these. A great capture of the architecture. I agree with the first comment you bring out much beauty in this building.

Love one with the straight lines, and the crooked lines in the reflection.

Thanks JW 🙂 The top photo is certainly now my favourite too. When I was taking them, I thought one of the black and white photos would be my favourite.

Thanks for the comment Bill, I think most people went for one of the colour versions too 🙂
