As a bit of a challenge to myself, I took some more photos for the WP Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge – Grid. My own challenge was to allow myself 30 mins to take the photos and edit them – this was my results, a couple of which are pushing it a wee bit to say they are grid like 🙂
I would love to know which one is your favourite, and which is the one you dislike the most?
My favourite is the one of the cobbles. I like the strength of the pattern in that one and also I just like cobbles. Forced to choose a least favourite, I will opt for the steps just because the intersecting lines lead to more peculiar angles.

Thanks Laura, I think I agree with you about ‘The steps’, in the end I just ended up playing around with the editing in an attempt to make it less messy.

I wonder if it might work better in colour as then it might look like a patchwork quilt with interesting angles and shapes separated by colour rather than by other lines and shapes. I like the path one too, incidentally, with the different scale of grids/squares/rectangles.

Unfortunately there is a line of bins up the right hand side of the photo, sometimes bins can work, but this time they definitely didn’t, I was trying to hide them! Lol! I’m glad you like the Path 🙂

What a wonderful selection. Very hard to pick a favourite but I really like the garden wall one and the path, which is most striking. I’m glad you gave yourself that extra challenge, I enjoyed seeing the results. 🙂

For some reason the fourth one down, the garage or storage structure, captivated me.

Thanks Tammy for your opinion 🙂 I was pleasantly surprised how the garage turned out, it’s a kind of sad and slightly depressing sort of photo, but I can understand someone feeling drawn to it.

Yes, in decay and depressing… but then there is the matter of its texture in black and white which pops the picture and the weathered elements alongside a vibrant, living bush and trees. I am always fascinated by what people are drawn to and the arts make us pause, reflect, give significance to what some may consider insignificant, and make art of things that never were. I’m rambling, but now also reflecting on my own subjectivity here in how the picture spoke to me.

You’ve worded it far better than I could Tammy, and it is fascinating how art can draw attention to something, which other people just don’t notice. Mind you, I’m often amazed about how many people appear to go around with their eyes apparently shut most of the time.

Well captured images! I love the first one especially but all of the images are brilliant for WP challenge 🙂

Thanks Indah 🙂 One of my kids couldn’t believe that the cobble photo was of the cobbles she walked passed everyday. To her, they somehow looked far more dramatic in the photo.

I liked the first two very much. I think the strong tones and clear lines help. There’s nothing here which I dislike, but the fourth one touches me least. Maybe because the contrast is sort of low, and the peeling paint then makes a random pattern instead of a grid.

Thank you for your comments I.J. 🙂 I realised the fourth photo wasn’t a grid as such, but personally I liked the photo, so I included it. These were only quickly taken near my home, as a bit of a challenge to myself 🙂

My favourite is ‘Cobbles’ – I took a similar one myself yesterday, and my least favourite is the drain thingy!
